Had a very good weekend managed to get out on Saturday night for a change with my other half (a rarity these days).Today i have been to sunny Poulton le fylde near Blackpool.That was after getting delayed 45mins with an accident on the M62 near the M18 slip road.A burnt out car was on its side and a white van had flipped the safety barrier into a ditch.I hope all the occupants got out ok, i get spooked when white vans are involved doing the job i do but thats life.Went on a training course yesterday with the Utility Warehouse and met loads of new people and learnt loads of new bits and bats.Still a bit up and down with work but i am hoping my advert might bring some response.Finished off today with a good workout at the gym and its getting a lot easier now after i thought i was gonna die when i first started going again.

Yet another stormy wet and windy start to the week.Did a job in Reading yesterday and it battered it down all the way there and back.There were quite a few flooded fields and the main road into Reading was absolutely covered like a lake wheres it gonna end?,theres only so much rainfall the land can take and its up to its limit now,scary!I am sick and tired every time i get a job these days it seems to be raining or stormy weather it does get you down a bit,ah well onwards and upwards!The weight loss has been going well 10lbs off so far but i'm getting a bit paranoid because if i go for a night out i seem to put on 4-5lbs.I know this is just fluid retention but it takes while my next weekly weigh in to disappear,and when you've worked hard to lose weight all week its sickening to put it on with a night out.However its been a month so we are gonna make an effort this weekend.I'm going to try an advert this week and for the next month to try and get some work up to xmas,if that doesn't work i may have to look for a proper job,aaarrggghhh!!!

Times racing on towards Xmas,this week has been really busy with all my major customers wanting a job doing.In to November now so lets hope it carries on.Got caught in a credit card scam last week for another courier.Went all the way to Grimsby to pick up a pallet which had been ordered with a stolen credit card.It was a pallet of hardwood flooring at £2000,the guy was sick who gave me the job as he is gonna have to pay me for going but it could have been worse as some couriers have been arrested at delivery points with these scams.I suppose at this time of year you have to be extra vigilante.We had the first cold snap of the year last week and with it came a speight of accidents up and down the motorway networks,i travelled down to Devizes in Wiltshire at 2am.It is amazing and frightening how fast vehicles are travelling on these potentially icy roads in country lanes.It is a disaster waiting to happen but people seem oblivious to the danger to themselves and others.I also saw an accident on the M6 which was attended by twelve police cars including three plain BMW's,three fire engines and two highway cars,it looked like a small pickup had run into the back of an arctic.I know it was serious but really all those police cars???

Winters supposed to arrive later on in the week with a covering of snow,fantastic! not!.Just what we don't need at these quiet times is snow.The trip to old trafford on Tuesday was fantastic and a good experience though i thought Celtic were absolutely rubbish.We had a private box looking directly accross to the dugouts and a plasma television to see all the replays.There was our own waiter and waitress to keep us topped up with drinks and we tucked into a lovely four course meal.Business is still coming in dribs and drabs and i am constantly thinking how i can improve things,maybe put an advert in the local paper or something i just don't know.Hopefully this week will see me lose a bit more weight as last week was a disaster and i put on two pounds,that was with all the extra eating for birthdays and such,back on track this week.There was a terrible accident on the M6 in Cheshire this week where a whole family including kiddies were wiped out,it brings it home again what a fine line we run when we drive for a living one split second and our lives could change forever.

Not a bad week this week,4 days work anyway.Went to Telecom Plus meeting on Monday it was absolutely packed out standing room only.Looks like an extra room needs to be put on for the future.On Monday got a phone call to say i had won a VIP trip for two to the champions league match between man utd v celtic.Private bar four course meal really looking forward to it.Decided who to take as a guest but said he would ring me back and never did so i needed let them know asap and i have a mate in Halifax who is a mad man utd fan and he is gonna go instead.Every day it seems to be rainy and windy we could do with a run of sunshine to ease the doom and gloom.Every page of the Sunday papers there was some mention of the recession either being here or on its way.The diets not going too bad ive lost half a stone,would have been more had i not had one or two relapses such as Blackpool trip and one or two big meals out,never mind keep plugging away.

Not a great deal of cheer to write about business is still quiet there is a recession looming.Businesses are bound to hold back and cut costs.I know of several couriers who are calling it a day as at the moment there is a lot of bad business about with firms taking longer to pay or not paying at all.If you get the new business you suspect they might of used up their credit elsewhere.Then you have the problem of actually giving any credit at this particular time.I have decided to give 30days to any regular contract work but for one offs i need payment within 7 days if it doesn't suit then fair enough.I put out around 200 flyers in the post and have had a few replies from them,i went right back in my early contacts list and one reply in particular who hasn't used me for 18 months sounds promising.Its Monday morning and phone has been red hot so far,i've had a couple of e-bay enquiries which i don't do as i can't compete on price and some other enquiries which i priced up so see if anything comes of it.We had surprising sunny weather up here yesterday,it was very warm for October 22*c in some areas, very nice

See what this week brings,the weathers dropped a bit chilly but at least its not raining at the moment.Was in Blackpool on a lads weekend so all the weight (half a stone) i lost has now been reinstated.Considering retiring from this drinking game as i cant keep up spend most of the weekend hung over and feeling sick!Retreated back to the hotel saturday afternoon for a break,i could sense it was gonna be a long afternoon.However when i decided to venture back out it was blowing a gale, hail stoning and generally lashing it down so i went for something to eat then back to the hotel drenched.When the crew rolled in at teatime i had missed ten pints and an afternoon at Joey Blowers at Merrie England,needless to say we were out at 8pm for the night shift some rolling in at 4-30am where do they put it?Business is still quiet with a few companies announcing job losses a few courier companies have gone down the pan as well so its a case of hanging on and hoping.Its gonna be a long winter by the look of it,the only people who seem to be ringing are trying to sell something but i'm not spending nothing else now advertising and such until next year.
